ANN Exclusive | The Rural Fire Service
Written by Lawdoood
The Byron Bay Rural Fire Service is a volunteer-based firefighting service that operates in and around the Byron Bay region of Ro-New South Wales, Australia. The service is responsible for responding to fires and other emergencies in and around Byron Bay, and works closely with other emergency services such as the New South Wales Ambulance Service and New South Wales Police Force.
Recently the Byron Bay community have seen an incredible influx of fires in Byron and as a result of this, the Rural Fire Service has increased in activity. Earlier today we spoke with a member of the community asking them for their thoughts on the topic, one person responded, "Good" and another expressing their fear they have for the community "Ahh! I'm truly frightened by fire".
A member of staff has also questioned a Rural Fire Service volunteer earlier today questioning them about what the RFS are doing to tackle these fires. The volunteer stated that applications for the service are always open and they have lovely instructors who are committed to training the newer members. We then asked the volunteer what we (as a community) could do to act best in a fire, the member's advice was to ring 000, if possible to contain the fire and also if possible to extinguish the fire.
In the event of a fire, it is crucial to follow the advice of emergency service personel and evacuate if necessary. The Byron Bay Rural Fire Service and other emergency services are trained and fully equipped to respond to fires and any other emergencies, and work hard to protect the beloved community and surrounding areas. We are forever grateful to our emergency service personnel, and in this situation we are especially grateful to have the Rural Fire Service.
