ANN Exclusive | Job Expo
Written by Cheb & Funkyroo123
The Federal Treasurer, Excily, announced yet another job expo on Sunday the 10th of April. The expo gained considerable traction despite the short timeframe, with four private businesses and eight governmental departments registering. The private businesses registering are Gallo Italiano, IGAAG, Triple Arrow and Ausstats. However, ANN have received word that the owner of Triple Arrow, WilliamNative, has been kicked from the GC and may not attend. Departments with stalls are NSWPF, ADF, ASIO, RFS, NSWAS, Treasury, Foreign Affairs and the Australian News Network. ANN understands that the size of these stalls will be larger than previous expos, with departments getting big stalls and private businesses getting small stalls.
Job expos have long been criticised as just a 'thing' for governments to do. The relative frequency of these job expos have been put under the public eye, questioning their effectiveness. Despite this, expos have had their successes under previous governments. This expo will run from 7-8pm at the Sports Centre (referred to as the AEC Voting Centre by the Treasurer), with ANN also putting up a booth.
We talked to the Secretary to the Treasurer, this is how it went.
Interviewer: Can you tell us more about the motivation behind organizing another job expo?
Secretary to the Treasurer: Our government recognizes the challenges faced by many Australians in finding employment, and or gaining inspiration to start their own business. The job expo is an opportunity to bring together job seekers and potential employers from both the private and public sectors in one place, making it easier for the job seekers to see first-hand what it is like and to connect with employers and explore opportunities.
Interviewer: There have been criticisms about the effectiveness of job expos. How does the government respond to these criticisms?
Secretary to the Treasurer: We understand that there have been criticisms in the past about the effectiveness of job expos. However, we believe that events like these still play an important role in bringing a transparency to job seekers. Our aim is to make the expo as useful as possible by having a range of businesses and departments in attendance and by providing a platform for job seekers to network and explore job opportunities.
Interviewer: Can you tell us more about the setup of the expo?
Secretary to the Treasurer: The expo will take place at the AEC Voting Centre during the event. Each Government department will be getting a big stall which they can divide however they wish. The private businesses will be getting smaller stalls. We believe this will allow for a more engaging and informative experience for job seekers.
Interviewer: Finally, can you tell us about the expected outcome of the job expo?
Secretary to the Treasurer: Our aim is for the job expo to be a successful way for job seekers and employers to connect with each other and explore job opportunities. We hope that job seekers will find the expo useful and informative, and that employers will find suitable people to fill their job openings. Ultimately, our goal is to support the Australia’s growth by helping people find employment and a reason to participate in our fast-growing community.
